The Pace Docs team has been on an intense journey since our meeting time at 4:00 a.m. in Newark Airport. We traveled for a total of 18 hours, making it one of the longest days of our lives. We landed in San Francisco at 9:30 a.m., where we stayed in the airport for a two hour layover period. We then took a second flight from San Francisco to Kona International, where we landed at 2:30 p.m. From the airport, we drove an hour and a half on a scenic route to our hotel in Hilo. We did not arrive at the hotel until late afternoon due to misplaced luggage that was not delivered to Kona until 10:20 p.m. From there, we had a few hours to relax and explore the area for dinner before our wrap up meeting.

At our meeting, Dr. Luskay discussed with us our schedule for tomorrow and delegated tasks for individual groups. We also looked at how we envision the final product of our documentary. Instead of personal accounts of harsh experiences, we want to tell the whole story from start to finish. By interweaving interviews from various perspectives, we hope to gain a concise image of what Hawaiians went through and are still recovering from. Each day, we have a guideline as to what interviews we need to cover. Our strict schedule forces us to plan everything from meal selections to travel time for each day. We have a bright and early start tomorrow to begin the production process.

Today may have been a long day, but this is just the beginning.

Stay updated, we will be posting a new blog post each day documenting our journey!
